FAQs

What does the San Tan Valley Clinic provide?

They are a participating provider for The Well Woman HealthCheck Program (WWHP), for free mammograms.

What does the Well Woman HealthCheck Program (WWHP) offer?

  • It helps low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women gain access to breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services, including clinical breast exams, mammograms, pap tests, and pelvic exams.
  • They also help verify the eligibility and facilitate the enrollment of uninsured women in Arizona diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer or precancerous cervical lesions into the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program (BCCTP) provided by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).

What are their eligibility guidelines for free services?

  • Must be a woman.
  • Must be a resident of Arizona.
  • Must be uninsured or underinsured (have insurance that does not cover the services offered by the WWHP or have a co-pay of $100 or more for breast and cervical cancer screening and/or diagnostic services).
  • Must not have Medicare Part B.
  • Must not be enrolled in the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), which is Arizona's Medicaid program.
  • For breast cancer screening, be 40 - 64 years old (or any age 21 and over if you have symptoms, such as pain, a lump, nipple discharge, an inverted nipple, etc.) and not recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • For cervical cancer screening, be 21 - 64 years old and not recently diagnosed with cervical cancer

Why is it getting screened for cancer important?

It increases the chance to detect the disease early when it is most likely to be curable.

How to find out if I qualify for a free or low-cost mammogram and Pap test and where to get screened?

I am uninsured and would like to see about getting some type of breast exam. I’ve had uncontrollable itching in my breasts for over a month and most recently breast pain and possible rash. I’ve tried to feel for lumps but I have dense breasts and it’s hard for me to tell.

I would like to schedule a mammogram. I have breast implants and I’ve been feeling sick just want to make sure they aren’t making me sick. I also need to know if you take ACCHS?
