What does MBCHP do?

  • They will pay for a breast and/or cervical cancer screening office visit performed at one of our designated network service locations.
  • They will also pay for a screening Mammogram (at MBCHP participating Mammography locations).

What are the services included on preventive cancer screening services?

Clinical Breast Exam and/or; a Pelvic exam and/or; a Pap test alone or; a Pap test and high-risk HPV test (HPV co-testing).

What funded the Maine CDC Breast and Cervical Health Program (MBCHP)?

  • It is funded through the U.S.
  • Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP), and with Maine General Fund dollars.

What is the mission of the MBCHP?

To provide breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to underserved

How to be eligible to enroll in the MBCHP for breast and cervical cancer screening services?

  • Must be a Maine woman age 40 or older*, and have a household income less than or equal to 250% of the current Federal Poverty Level (FPL), and have no health insurance, or health insurance that does not cover mammograms or Pap tests (preventive cancer screening services), or has high deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, or premiums.
  • Women receiving Medicare Part B or MaineCare benefits are not eligible for MBCHP. (Mammograms and Pap tests are covered under these programs.)
